Creating a video topic that looks beautiful on a mobile phone is easy with Practera. If your video exists already on a a platform like youtube or Vimeo, you can simply copy and paste the URL. Otherwise, if you have a video file, Practera lets you upload the file to our file manager and provides you with a URL that can be pasted.
How a video topic looks on the mobile app
Video topics consist of
- a title
- a video
- text (optional)
- attachments (optional)
Pro tip: Video transcripts can be added as attachments. This can help participants to download, markup or study the content. Especially if the video language is not their native one.
How to add a video topic
On the topic screen, simply add a title at the top.
Step 1: Get the video URL
If you have a video file: Upload your video to the media manager under Setup->Media Manager. Once the upload is complete, you can get the URL by clicking the link icon
If your video is hosted externally (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo or kaltura): Copy the URL link to the video
Step 2: Paste the video URL
Paste a video link in the "Video URL" field, as seen in the image above. If you add a valid link, Practera will show the video at the top and in the centre of the mobile page.
If you want to add additional content, please use the content editor.
Pro tip: Do not embed videos to warrant a seamless user experience. If you have a second video, it is best practice to create a new topic. #bitesized
